Neill to get ‘Dirty’ in Oz

Thesp joins gangster pic cast

SYDNEY — Sam Neill has signed to play an organized crime boss alongside Toni Collette, John Goodman and Bryan Brown in 1960s-set gangster pic “Dirty Deeds.”

Directed and penned by David Caesar, co-produced by Brown and Debbie Balderstone, “Deeds” began principal photography Friday on location in Sydney.

The $A10 million ($5 million) pic, with coin from government funder the Film Finance Corp. and Macquarie Films, is the first feature produced by Nine Films & Television and distribbed by Kerry Packer’s new shingle Hoyts Distribution.
