‘Mama’ cuts a deal

Canal Plus Horizon has signed a two-year, six-screenings deal for “Mama Africa,” six short films written and directed by African women.

Series will be screened by Canal Plus Horizon in its Francophone Africa region, according to executive producer Simon Bright of Zimbabwe.

“Mama Africa,” which bowed Jan. 29 at the Rotterdam Intl. Film Festival, where it won the Canal Plus audience award, was previously sold only to the Anglophone region through its co-production partnership with South African pay TV station M-Net.
