David Lynch has signed on as executive producer of Eli Roth’s feature writing and directing debut, “Cabin Fever.”
Horror thriller tells the story of five friends isolated in a cabin who contract a deadly flesh-eating virus and are forced to fight the disease or their closest friends.
Pic will star Michael Rosenbaum (“Smallville”), with Jordan Ladd (“Never Been Kissed”) and James DeBello (“Scary Movie 2”) in negotiations.
Pic’s producers are Lauren Moews, Sam Froelich, Evan Astrowsky and Roth, with Susan Jackson exec producing with Lynch. Backed with equity financing, production is slated to begin Oct. 29 in High Point, N.C.
Roth met Lynch while shooting his NYU thesis film “Restaurant Dogs,” which went on to win a 1995 student Academy Award.
Since then, Roth has been researching a biographical project for Lynch and composer Angelo Badalamenti, which will be written sometime this winter. Roth also worked closely with Lynch on his new Web site, Davidlynch.com, which launches Friday.
Most recently, Roth co-wrote “The Extra,” a feature set up at Bill Mechanic’s Pandemonium, with Camryn Manheim attached to produce and star.
Roth is repped by CAA and 3 Arts Entertainment.
