Lucky Red nabs ‘Tanguy’

Chief Occhipinti to co-produce 'Magdalene'

Italian distributor Lucky Red has picked up all rights for the territory to French director Etienne Chatiliez’s comedy “Tanguy” from TF1 Intl.

Currently shooting, the story of a 28-year-old Frenchman reluctant to leave his family home and establish an independent adult life stars Andre Dussolier and Sabine Azema.

Chatiliez’s previous pics include arthouse successes “Life Is a Long Quiet River” and “Tati Danielle.”

Lucky Red chief Andrea Occhipinti also announced a deal, concluded in Cannes, to come aboard as a co-producer on actor-turned-director Peter Mullan’s second feature, “Magdalene,” shooting this summer in Scotland.

The Italian distrib previously released Mullan’s 1998 debut “Orphans,” a multiple-award winner at the Venice Film Festival.
