Looking on Sunny Side

June docu market lineup named

PARIS — Organizers of the Sunny Side of the Doc on Tuesday unveiled the lineup for this year’s documentary mart, which will go ahead June 28-30 in Marseilles despite the tragic death of founder Olivier Masson.

Masson, who headed the South of France mart for 12 years, drowned in February after falling into the old port at Marseilles. He was 46.

Yves Jeanneau, co-founder and Masson’s longtime business partner, now heads the mart, while continuing to run Pathe TV’s docu department.

In a new initiative this year, Sunny Side has invited broadcasters to brief attendees on their commissioning policies and practices.

In another practical touch, pitching sessions will be replaced by co-production case studies, during which producers of successful co-prods will explain how they got their projects off the ground.

The mart will close with a tribute to Masson.
