Nicole Kidman has a little confession to make: She will co-star in “Confessions of a Dangerous Mind,” the on-again, off-again pic to be financed and released by Miramax Films and directed by George Clooney.
Based on the novel “Confessions of a Dangerous Mind: An Unauthorized Biography” penned by gameshow maven Chuck Barris in 1984, pic will co-star Clooney. “Being John Malkovich” scribe Charlie Kaufman penned the script. Barris is expected to cameo.
“It’s absolutely terrific that Nicole is coming aboard,” said Barris, whose book will be republished once the auction among publishers concludes. “To finally see this getting done is just incredible.”
Film is slated to go into production this month, with lensing likely in Montreal and parts of California.
Barris is known for “The Gong Show” and “Dating Game.” He has already written a sequel to “Confessions” titled “Bad Grass Never Dies: More Confessions of a Dangerous Mind.”
The “Confessions” feature project has seen top stars and helmers become attached and detached from the film adaptation, including Johnny Depp, Mike Myers, Ben Stiller, Sean Penn and Bryan Singer.
