DiGiaimo brought book to MJP, will serve as producer

Intermedia has acquired the rights to Eugene Izzi’s novel “The Booster” for Mark Johnson Prods. to develop and scribe Sheldon Turner to adapt.

Book was brought to MJP by producer Louis DiGiaimo, who collaborated with Johnson on “Donnie Brasco.” DiGiaimo will serve as a producer on the project. Johnson and MJP prexy of production Tiffany Daniel will shepherd the film along with Intermedia’s Julie Golden.

“The Booster” is a contemporary crime drama about a big-time, turned petty, thief who comes out of retirement to take part in the biggest and most dangerous heist of his life.

Turner, repped by Industry Entertainment and Endeavor, most recently sold the futuristic action thriller “Prior Restraint” to Newmarket for Neal Moritz to produce. He has also penned the cop thriller “Estranged” as part of a two-pic pact with Casey Silver’s Gone Fishin’ Prods. shingle.

Turner previously sold the supernatural thriller “The Ritual” to Dimension Films for Tapestry Entertainment to produce and “The Inside Man” to Ignite Entertainment.

Johnson’s producing credits include “Diner,” “Galaxy Quest” and the Oscar-winning “Rain Man.” He has a first-look pact with Intermedia.

With offices in London, Los Angeles and Munich, Intermedia develops, finances and distributes pics. Parent company IM Internationalmedia is listed on the Neuer Markt.
