NEW YORK — Rene Russo will star with Eddie Murphy and Robert De Niro in “Showtime,” the Warner Bros./Village Roadshow Pictures comedy being directed by Tom Dey.
Russo will play a TV producer who pairs a no-nonsense cop with a showboating counterpart to star in a reality-based show. Keith Sharon’s script was rewritten by Miles Millar and Alfred Gough. Jorge Saralegui is producing with Jane Rosenthal.
The actress, who will next be seen in the Barry Sonnenfeld-directed Disney pic “Big Trouble,” chose the comedy over several other pre-strike offers.
