Inside move: Herek sketches Fox 2000

Helmer to 'Ames' comedy

Stephen Herek is in discussions to direct “Tucker Ames” for Fox 2000. Story, penned by Kevin Wade, with current revisions by Audrey Wells, centers on a Bill Gates-esque character with a fear of public speaking. When the man goes into hiding to avoid an antitrust suit, he ends up hanging out with a group of sketch comedy artists who think he’s a celebrity look-alike of himself.

Herek’s credits include “Mr. Holland’s Opus” and the live-action “101 Dalmatians.” He is currently doing post-production on Fox-based New Regency’s “Life or Something Like It,” starring Angelina Jolie and Ed Burns. That pic was produced by John Davis via his Davis Entertainment shingle, along with Herek’s partner, Toby Jaffe.
