‘Holden’ catches cast

Hurt, Jackson in talks to star

This article was corrected on March 28, 2001.

DJ Qualls, Rachel Blanchard and Sean Kanan have been cast in “Chasing Holden,” a drama directed by Malcolm Clarke. William Hurt is in negotiations to star.

Pic has a five-week shooting sked in Montreal and will be distributed domestically and internationally by Lions Gate.

Christopher Eberts, Jennifer Hammerschlag and Steven Jensen will produce; Kanan and Dale Perelman are set as executive producers.

Title is a reference to “The Catcher in the Rye” protag Holden Caulfield, around whom Kanan’s script is based.

Like the J.D. Salinger novel, “Holden” concerns a boarding school student who undergoes a spiritual awakening on his journey into adulthood.
