Freeman flies to Kasdan pic

Foursome battle extraterrestrials, Army colonel in King adaptation

Morgan Freeman will star in “Dreamcatcher,” the Lawrence Kasdan-directed adaptation of the Stephen King bestseller for Castle Rock.

Pic, with a script originated by William Goldman and rewritten by Kasdan, centers around a quartet of childhood pals who come together as adults to battle extraterrestrials and an evil Army colonel (Freeman).

The friendly foursome has yet to be cast; ILM will provide visual effects work for the pic.

“We start out with four friends who are burned out and unhappy, and who get together once a year to go hunting,” said Kasdan. “The fact that it starts out like ‘The Big Chill’ was an attraction, but it then gets taken over by a terrific Stephen King narrative.”

The WMA-repped Freeman recently wrapped the Carl Franklin-directed “High Crimes” and the Phil Alden Robinson-directed “The Sum of All Fears.”
