The Sixth Acapulco Franco-Mexican Film Fest and Market, that wrapped Dec 2, saw 23 LatAm distrib deals inked for 14 French films, according to early figures.
Some 65 buyers attended the festival, organized by Unifrance. “It was surprisingly good for business despite the terrible economic situation of many countries,” said Patrick Lamassoure, Unifrance marketing manager.
Before the festival began, about five Gallic features were released each year in Mexico. According to Univison, the figure will be near 40 this year, with a similar number in the rest of the region.
