British, Spanish, U.S. thesps set to topline

MADRID — Julio Fernandez’s Filmax Group has inked a three-pic accord with Chuck Parello, director-producer of “Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer 2″ and “Ed Gein.”

Parello will develop, co-write and direct an English-lingo pic based on the Spanish short story “The Werewolf of Allariz,” by Alfredo Conde. Filmax will produce.

Parello has an option to develop and direct two more features for Filmax.

Pic will recount the bizarre but true events of 1850 in which a Spanish peddler was acquitted of murdering women in savage attacks after pleading that he was a werewolf.

Parello will co-write the untitled pic with a Spanish scribe. It will topline Brit, Spanish and, strikes allowing, U.S. thesps, Parello told Daily Variety. The shoot will begin in Spain around September.

Parello pic’s will be the sixth to roll from the Brian Yuzna-run Fantastic Factory. Helmed by Yuzna, the Factory’s first pic, “Faust,” bows in Spain this weekend.
