Rapper Jean to star, provide soundtrack
Emmett/Furla Films will finance and produce “Shottas,” a drama starring rapper Wyclef Jean, who will also provide the picture’s soundtrack.
“Shottas” is the story of two Jamaican thugs who reunite and decide to take on the city of Miami. Written and directed by tyro filmmaker Cess Silvera, pic is shooting in Jamaica.
Randall Emmett and George Furla will produce the film with Jennifer Farrell. Jean, Silvera and Sin City’s Fabian Puevot serve as executive producers.
“Shottas” also stars Ky-Mani Marley, Spragga Benz, Paul Campbell and Louie Rankin, with a cameo by boxer Lennox Lewis. WMA Indpendent reps domestic rights.
Emmett/Furla recently co-produced “The Devil and Daniel Webster,” starring Alec Baldwin, Jennifer Love Hewitt and Anthony Hopkins, for Cutting Edge Entertainment.
They also served as executive producers of “Behind the Sun,” starring Billy Bob Thornton and Patricia Arquette. “Sun” is part of Emmett/Furla’s 10-pic distribution/financing arrangement with Millennium Films, which will handle the foreign sales on this picture. Gold Circle will handle the domestic rights.
