Duo sells ‘Kids’ pitch to Disney

Pic slated as CGI animated project

Walt Disney Feature Animation has paid low-six figures to buy the pitch “Neighborhood Kids” (aka Monster Kids) from first-time writers Matt Cunningham and Erik Gardner.

Gardner and Cunningham, repped by the Gersh Agency, are on board to write the screenplay, which centers around kids with special powers who must rescue their parents from an evil scientist.

Pic is on the fast track for the studio as a CGI animated project.

Producer Robert Efford and MBST manager Jonathan Hung brought the pitch to WDFA senior vice president Leo Chu and creative executive Karen Rupert, who will oversee the project for the studio. Deal was brokered by attorney Rob Szymanski at Lichter, Grossman, Nichols & Adler.
