Doc fest spins digital meet

Cutting Truths to bring docu filmmaking, digital together

TORONTO — This year’s Hot Docs Documentary Festival will feature a new conference, Cutting Truths, to bring docu filmmaking and the digital revolution together.

Backed by Hot Docs, the Banff New Media Institute and the National Film Board, Cutting Truths is a daylong confab in which documentary filmmakers and new-media scions from Canada and elsewhere will take a big-picture look at interactive media and convergence, compare notes on a practical level and pitch their wares for C$5,000 ($3,197) in development funds.

Cutting Truths is skedded for April 30, as part of the Hot Docs Canadian Intl. Documentary Festival, set to run April 30-May 6 in Toronto.
