The Walt Disney Co. has taken a liking to Joanna Johnson’s pitch, tentatively titled “The Boy’s Club,” slapping down a mid-six-figure sum for the comedy.
Lawrence Bender (“Pulp Fiction”) is attached to produce. Project was brought into the Mouse House by veep of production Karen Glass and director of development Kristin Burr, who will oversee the script’s development.
Story is described as a high-concept romantic comedy, set in the workplace, in which the lead man and woman swap personalities.
Johnson, who recently signed on for representation by the William Morris Agency, penned “Madam President” for Universal, with Tom Shadyac attached to direct. Buffy Shutt and Cathy Jones via their Shutt-Jones Productions are producing along with Shadyac’s Shady Acres.
Scribe is currently writing “Little White Lies” at Miramax, with Bender producing.
Bender was a producer on “The Mexican.” He recently signed on to produce “Dirty Dancing II” for Miramax. He is a producer on “Knock Around Guys,” to be released by New Line Cinema and starring John Malkovich and Dennis Hopper.
