De Laurentiis named UNPF prexy

Film vet replaces Committeri

ROME — Italian film industry veteran Aurelio De Laurentiis has been appointed president of UNPF, the National Film Producers Union, which comes under the authority of Italian producers association ANICA. He replaces previous chief Franco Committeri, who died this month.

The neo-prexy is head of Filmauro, one of Italy’s leading independent film production and distribution banners, which also has significant interests in the exhibition sector. He is a partner in Cinecitta Holding and also serves as president of international film producers federation, FIAPF.
