Oscar winner to be feted May 7 in Gotham

NEW YORK — Francis Ford Coppola has been selected as the honoree for the Film Society of Lincoln Center’s 2002 gala tribute. The five-time Academy Award winner will be feted May 7 at Lincoln Center’s Avery Fisher Hall.

Event will feature a selection of highlights from Coppola’s films as well as a bevy of industry admirers who will pay tribute. Previous honorees include Jane Fonda, Clint Eastwood, Robert Altman, Gregory Peck, Audrey Hepburn, Bette Davis, Elizabeth Taylor, Federico Fellini, Laurence Olivier, John Huston, Joanne Woodward and Paul Newman, Fred Astaire, Alfred Hitchcock and Charlie Chaplin.
