HOLLYWOOD — Cowboy Booking Intl. and Antidote Films’ co-venture, Code Red, created to procure and support the release of significant art films and docus, has acquired North American rights to Kiyoshi Kurosawa’s feature “Cure” from Japan’s Daiei Co.
Pic will be rolled out Stateside through the summer and fall.
Release will coincide with a major retrospective of Kurosawa’s work to be mounted at the American Cinematheque in L.A., the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston and the Screening Room in Gotham.
Film will be Kurosawa’s first to be released in the U.S.
Code Red’s slate also includes “George Washington,” directed by David Gordon Green; “Just One Time,” directed by Lane Janger; and “In the Winter Dark,” directed by James Bogle and starring Brenda Blethyn.
