Channing gets into ‘Life’

Herek to helm pic, which begins lensing next week

Stockard Channing is in final negotiations to play a Barbara Walters-esque journalist in Regency Enterprises’ romantic comedy “Life, or Something Like It,” starring Angelina Jolie.

Pic centers on a discontented young reporter (Jolie). When she interviews a homeless psychic for a fluff story on predicting football scores, he tells her that she has days left to live. Channing would play a veteran journo who is Jolie’s idol.

Channing recently starred in i5 Film’s “The Business of Strangers” with Julia Stiles. Indie pic bowed at Sundance.

Stephen Herek will helm “Life,” which begins lensing next week and is being produced by John Davis through Davis Entertainment, Toby Jaffe and Ken Atchity.
