Catch 23 Entertainment will wholly finance “The Professor’s Wife” from writer-director Victor Nunez. Budgeted at about $5 million, pic will be distributed domestically through Universal Focus.
“Professor’s Wife” will likely follow “Coastlines,” a drama set against a love triangle. Nunez plans to shoot the latter project in May for IFC Prods. and Clear Blue Sky.
Aaron Eckhart is in talks to star in “Coastlines,” the story of a man who gets stiffed when he tries to collect the money due him after taking the fall for a couple of creeps in Florida.
Also set in Nunez’s native Florida, “Professor’s Wife” is a family drama that takes place in a university town as a couple works to redefine their relationship as their adult children raise families of their own.
C23 prexy Jeremy Barber and senior VP of production Suzanne Warren will oversee the project. A foreign distribution partner has yet to be set. Catch 23 was repped in the deal by Barber and outside counsel Bruce Vann, with Nunez repped by the Paul Kohner Agency.
Nunez’s credits include “Ulee’s Gold” which earned a Golden Globe for star Peter Fonda, and “Ruby in Paradise,” which featured Ashley Judd in her feature debut and earned the Grand Jury prize at the 1993 Sundance Film Festival.
