Designer Armani, conductor Muti may join biopic

The Canton Co. and Senator Entertainment are in final negotiations to pay mid- against high-six figures for the spec script “Caruso: The King of Tenors,” an epic biopic about the famous Italian opera singer Enrico Caruso.

Penned by tyro scribe Stefano Gallini, the drama is set in New York and Italy at the turn of the 20th century and tells the story of Enrico Caruso’s tragic and scandal-filled life, which included a tempestuous love affair with his wife’s sister. Gallini will serve as an executive producer on the project.

Designer Giorgio Armani and conductor Ricardo Muti have expressed interest in contributing to the project.

Pic will be produced by Mark Canton and overseen by the Canton Co.’s Nathan Kahane. Senator exec Carsten Lorenz brought the project to Canton.

Gallini, who is managed by David Flynn at Propaganda Management, previously produced “Star Struck,” starring Scott Caan, and co-produced “You’re Killing Me…” starring Julie Bowen and Traci Lords.
