‘Boiled’ bubbling at Warner

Fincher to direct Cage in Dark Horse Comics adaptation

Warner Bros. Pictures is negotiating with Frank Miller and Geoff Darrow for the feature rights to their 1992 comicbook “Hard Boiled,” with David Fincher attached to direct and Nicolas Cage to star.

Warners has spent the summer working out a deal for “Hard Boiled,” a sci-fi story about a killer robot that thinks he’s a tax collector. Miller and Darrow hold the rights to the property, which was published by Dark Horse Comics.

Both Miller and Darrow have strong ties to Warners and to its production topper, Lorenzo di Bonaventura. Miller is currently working with Darren Aronofsky on an adaptation of Miller’s “Batman: Year One,” and Darrow was the comicbook artist behind “The Matrix.” Both films were di Bonaventura passion projects.

Fincher’s next film is expected to be New Line Cinema’s “Seared,” an adaptation of Anthony Bourdain’s memoir of life as a chef titled “Kitchen Confidential: Adventures in the Culinary Underbelly.” He is repped by CAA.

Cage, who will be next seen in MGM’s “Windtalkers” and the Intermedia-Columbia Pictures production “Adaptation,” is repped by CAA and Brillstein-Grey.

Miller is repped by Shapiro-Lichtman Talent Agency.
