COPENHAGEN — “Best in Sweden,” a new feature by Swedish director Ulf Malmros, is the first pic to come out of a joint venture backed by a clutch of local production houses.
Gotafilm, MTV Produktion, Sandrew Metronome and regional film center Film i Vast are committed to five pics and four TV miniseries. Gothenberg-based producer Carin Hjulstrom-Livh is heading the project, Gothenburg Drama.
Peter Birro penned the screenplay about two 10-year-olds, one who dreams of flying, the other of becoming a professional soccer player. Pic is skedded to begin filming in July.
Sandrew Metronome Sweden will handle theatrical distribution, while pubcaster SVT Drama and commercial channel TV4 will both air the series of films.
