Argentina ‘Bride’ boom seen

An Argentine comedy about a depressed middle-aged guy has become the big hit at the local box office this year.

“El Hijo de la Novia” (“The Son of the Bride”) has sold more than 1 million tickets since its Aug. 16 bow, topping the charts for six of those seven weeks and besting “A.I. Artificial Intelligence,” “Shrek” and other imports.

Directed by Juan Jose Campanella, the film is about a divorced workaholic as he discovers the importance of family over the restaurant business started by his father.
