Andrews pulls out of fest

Thesp cites propriety, not fear of flying

MADRID — Julie Andrews has canceled her trip to the San Sebastian Intl. Film Festival (Sept. 20-29) to accept one of its prestigious lifetime achievement Donostia awards due to propriety rather than a fear for personal safety.

“At this terrible time of loss, shock and sadness for so many, Ms. Andrews strongly believes that it would be an insensitive gesture on her part to be celebratory in an atmosphere of world mourning,” said a spokesman for the British actress.

Other who have pulled out of the event include Mira Sorvino, who stars in Tim Blake Nelson’s competition player “The Grey Zone,” and Barbara Hershey and Anthony LaPaglia, who topline “Lantana.”

All gave the same reason as Andrews.
