NYU’s fifth annual international student film festival will kick off with a screening of “Il mio viaggio in Italia” (My Voyage to Italy), a four-hour documentary by NYU alum Martin Scorsese. Miramax nabbed distribution rights for the pic last week.
More than 90 films from 26 countries will screen at the fest, which opens Monday and wraps Oct. 20 at the Cantor Film Center in Greenwich Village.
Special events include screenings of Todd Solondz’s “Storytelling” and Nisha Ganatra’s “Chutney Popcorn” plus panel discussions moderated by Women in Film and helmer Amos Poe. Both Solondz and Ganatra are NYU grads.
Eastman Kodak is sponsoring the event, at which $16,000 in cash and services will be awarded to three helmers.
