LONDON — Shane Danielsen, a film writer for “The Australian” newspaper, has been named as the next artistic director of the Edinburgh Intl. Film Festival.
He will take over from the incumbent Lizzie Francke when she steps down after this year’s event, which runs Aug. 12-26.
Danielsen has previously acted as program adviser for London’s Institute of Contemporary Arts, and guest programmer for the Melbourne Intl. Film Festival, the Smithsonian Institute and the Edinburgh fest. Most recently he was artistic director of the 2001 French Film Festival in Australia.
