A new coalition has breathed life into the Bangkok Film Festival.
Now in its fourth year, the fest has picked up support from the Federation of National Film Assns. of Thailand, the Tourism Authority of Thailand and the Dept. of Export Promotion. Event will be held Nov. 16-25.
This year’s fest will screen 60 films, including Seyyed Reza Mir-Karimi’s “Under the Moonlight” and Bahman Farmanara’s “Smell of Camphor, Fragrance of Jasmine,” both from Iran, and Hong Kong’s “In the Mood for Love” by Wong Kar-Wai.
A special section will focus on the evolution of Thai film. Sponsorship support from the new government partners has allowed the festival to restore and subtitle 12 classic Thai films of the early 1970s.
