Host to use prod'n co. to launch minis, but has broad goals

Maury Povich is hanging up a new shingle, Stun Creative, under his MOPO production umbrella.

Headed by Povich proteges Mark Feldstein and Brad Roth, company will create content in all formats, from traditional 30-second ad spots to short films and hourlong series.

With offices in Gotham and L.A., Stun Creative already has a slew of projects in development, including Travel Channel city guide program “The Short List” and magazine “brand” shows for Hachette Filipacchi publications.

Povich said he has always been impressed with Feldstein’s and Roth’s creativity and sense of humor, primarily in the way that they handled the promotions for his talkshow. “I believe that marketing people are the most creative ones in this industry. When I was with ‘A Current Affair,’ it was the promotion that sold the show,” said Povich.

“Maury has always understood the importance of media trends. He’s always been surveying the entertainment landscape,” added Feldstein.

As part of its renaissance vision, Stun Creative also produced the golf mockumentary short “The Swinger,” starring comedian Chris Elliot. Recently shown at the U.S. Comedy Arts Festival, pic is Feldstein’s second laffer to be co-produced by Showtime. Two years ago, the cable web financed his short film “Karaoke Knight” as part of its Quick Flick series. Stun Creative was also responsible for launching the “Queer as Folk” television campaign for Showtime.

Povich also hopes to utilize the production house as a springboard for some of the telepic dramas he has optioned over the years.
