'Training,' 'Ali' ring up nods

“Ali,” “Baby Boy,” “Rush Hour 2″ “The Brothers” and “Training Day” are in the running to receive the motion picture nod at the 33rd annual NAACP Image Awards, to be held Feb. 23 at the Universal Amphitheater.

Actor noms went to Chris Tucker (“Rush Hour 2″), Denzel Washington (“Training Day”), Morgan Freeman (“Along Came a Spider”), Tyrese (“Baby Boy”) and Will Smith (“Ali”).

Alfre Woodard (“K-PAX”), Halle Berry (“Swordfish”), Regina King (“Down to Earth”), Vivica A. Fox (“Two Can Play That Game”) and Whoopi Goldberg (“Kingdom Come”) took actress noms.

Thesps Aaron Meeks (“Soul Food”), Ashley Monique Clark (“The Hughleys”), Kyla Pratt (“Dr. Dolittle 2″), Marcus T. Paulk (“Moesha”) and Raven-Symone (“Dr. Dolittle 2″) were nommed in the young actor category.

On the TV end, “Girlfriends” (UPN), “My Wife and Kids” (ABC), “The Bernie Mac Show” (Fox), “The Hughleys” (UPN) and “The Steve Harvey Show” (WB) were nominated for comedy series, while “Any Day Now” (Lifetime), “Boston Public” (Fox), “ER” (NBC), “Soul Food” (Showtime) and “The Practice” (ABC) are up for drama.

Outstanding album noms went to “Aaliyah” (Aaliyah), “Acoustic Soul” (India.Aire), “Experience: Jill Scott” (Jill Scott), “Invincible” (Michael Jackson) and “Songs in A Minor” (Alicia Keys).

Best musicvid noms went to “All for You” (Janet Jackson), “Contagious” (The Isley Brothers), “Fallin’ ” (Alicia Keys), “Rock the Boat” (Aaliyah) and “You Rock My World” (Michael Jackson).
