Peter Gabriel has signed up to compose the music for Phillip Noyce’s “Rabbit-Proof Fence.”
Gabriel’s soundtrack work has been relatively scarce, most notably “Strange Days” in 1995, with co-composer Graeme Revell, and Martin Scorsese’s “The Last Temptation of Christ” in 1988.
Exec producer Jeremy Thomas said Gabriel would be drawing on Aboriginal influences for the soundtrack, reflecting pic’s storyline.
Miramax Films has paid $4.5 million for rights to the pic in North and South America, the U.K. and Italy. The film’s budget (with no fee included for Noyce) is $4.2 million.
