CANNES — Code Red has acquired North American rights to Catherine Breillat’s “Fat Girl,” follow-up to her controversial “Romance” (1999), from French sales house Flach Pyramide.
The Cannes-announced deal follows negotiations that began at the Berlin Film Festival, Code Red said. It is the company’s third acquisition from Flach Pyramide, following Ziad Doueiri’s “West Beirut” and Tony Gatlif’s upcoming “Vengo.”
“Fat Girl,” about the sexual awakening of two sisters, one pretty, the other plain, will be released Stateside this fall.
Code Red is an acquisition co-venture formed by distributor Cowboy Booking Intl. and producer Antidote Films.
