C23 bows development/prod'n firm in U.K.
CANNES — Catch 23 Entertainment has launched a U.K.-based film development, production and finance venture, with ICM U.K. serving as consultants.
Outfit, backed by a multimillion-dollar development fund, has an initial goal of developing three English-language features a year. U.K.-based ICM agents Duncan Heath and Lyndsey Posner will sit on the initiative’s advisory committee.
C23 prexy Jeremy Barber and senior VP of production Suzanne Warren will oversee all film development and production for the new endeavor. The new company is seeking a development exec, to be based in Blighty.
Heath is the U.K. representative for helmers Sam Mendes (“American Beauty”), Roger Michell (“Notting Hill”), Martin Campbell (“Vertical Limit”), Jonathan Glazer (“Sexy Beast”) and Chris Cunningham, as well as actor Anthony Hopkins.
“Duncan and Lyndsey know this market cold and we are lucky to forge a relationship with them,” Barber said. “This relationship will guarantee that Catch 23 continues to aggressively build its development slate in the face of any work stoppages in the United States.”
Added Heath, “We are delighted to be in business with Bob (Sturm, C23 chairman) and Jeremy, and look forward to helping them build a real presence in the U.K. market.”
C23 was repped in the deal by Barber and attorney Bruce Vann, with ICM U.K. repped by Posner.
