CANNES — New Spanish production company 42nd Street Prods. has appointed Olaf de Boer as its head of international sales. The former ad exec previously worked at La Cosa de las Peliculas.
Owned by German post-production giant Das Werk via its Spanish subsid, En Efecto, 42nd Street also has closed key cast on drama “Food of Love,” the first English-lingo film from Span-ish auteur Ventura Pons. Principal thesps include Allan Corduner (“Topsy-Turvy”) and Paul Rhys (“Vincent and Theo”).
Cologne-based company FFP Me-dia has taken German rights and a 20% co-production stake on the $2.2 million “Food.” 42nd Street and its producing partner in Spain, Els Films de la Ram-bla, also look set to close with a U.K. co-producer.
Pic, based on David Leavitt’s novel “The Page Turner,” starts shooting in August in Barcelona.
Launched in February, 42nd Street is using Cannes to present a promo of “Faust 5.0,” a modern take of the Faust tale toplining Najwa Nimri, which is currently in post. “Faust 5.0” will have a special screening at the Sitges Intl. Film Festival of Catalunya in October.
