Variety has relaunched Variety.com, featuring a cleaner look, easier navigation and continuous news updates throughout the day covering the film, TV, international, business, music, homevid, technology and Internet arenas.
Existing subscribers to Variety’s Web site can log on to the new site with their current username and password; print mag customers automatically draw a subscription.
The redesigned site features an archive of news and reviews dating back to 1914, a link to eV, charts and box office statistics, stock listings and industry calendars.
“The new Variety.com gives us a tremendous advantage in a competitive field, and it allows us to deliver even more value to the influential leaders in our industry who rely upon Variety for timely, credible and straightforward news and analysis,” said Henry Shapiro, veep and general manager of Variety.com. “The site offers features and benefits no one else can.”
Full access to the site is available with a subscription to either Daily Variety or Weekly Variety. Online-only subscriptions are available at an introductory price of $59 per year.
“Our online strategy now mirrors our print strategy,” said Charlie Koones, group veep and publisher, Variety. “We are now in a position to generate revenue from our online business and deliver even greater value to our print subscribers around the world.”
