Ticketmaster pacts with AOL

Cyberbiz Brief

Ticketmaster has inked a deal with America Online to sell tickets to the Internet giant’s 28 million subscribers for events throughout the country. Under terms of the multiyear pact, Ticketmaster’s services will be housed under the moniker AOL Box Office by Ticketmaster, offering tix to concerts, movies, plays and sporting events. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Move is the first time AOL has aggressively offered its members e-commerce opportunities to live events. Deal also gives AOL users access to Ticketmaster’s local city guides, which offer Moviefone’s movie information and ticketing services. As part of the deal, AOL users can get tickets to more than 350,000 events and 5,000 venues across the nation. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, but similar deals with AOL have been valued in the tens of millions of dollars.
