Santa Monica-based Web design shop Media Revolution has been tapped by Sony Pictures Digital Entertainment and Columbia Pictures to develop the official dot-com for “Spider-Man.” The site, considered a major coup for Media Revolution as it beat out several rivals for the job, is skedded to bow in July.

Media Revolution had already designed the pic’s teaser site, which bowed in March. The full graphic-heavy site is expected to include video press conference highlights, downloads, discussion boards, sweepstakes and extensive behind-the-scenes information. Site is available at

“Media Revolution’s creative energy, innovative thinking, Web strategy and approach to the ‘Spider-Man’ brand impressed us,” said Andrew Schneider, senior veep of broadband content for SPDE.

Media Revolution has also created the “Frequency” site for New Line, the dot-com for Fox’s “The X-Files” and the online destination for Universal’s Islands of Adventure theme park. Other clients include DreamWorks, Hollywood Pictures, MGM and Paramount, among others.
