Lockstream bows new software VideoLock

Digital rights management firm Lockstream has bowed new software, VideoLock, to tag digital video content with unique user information to thwart illegal distribution of the video both on- and offline. Akin to the translucent onscreen “bugs” used as station identifiers by cable networks, VideoLock can embed text, including the user’s telephone number, address or credit card number, directly into a video clip. Lockstream hopes to market VideoLock to film companies, digital cable and satellite TV networks and DVD distributors.
