Joy tapped by Rezn8

Cyberbiz Brief

In an effort to expand its live-action and visual f/x animation work within the film and commercial communities, Hollywood-based graphic design shop Rezn8 has tapped Karin Joy as senior visual f/x producer.

One of Joy’s first projects is coordinating the company’s visuals for the Jon Avnet-helmed NBC miniseries “Uprising.”

Rezn8 is best known for creating graphic-heavy opening title se-quences, including those for MTV’s “Flipped” and the 73rd Academy Awards. It also creates graphics for “Jeopardy!” Joy’s hiring now is an attempt to get the company into the f/x realm. “Rezn8 (has) a talented team quite capable of producing creative effects that can blend seamlessly into commercial and feature films,” Joy said.

Most recently, Joy was head of features for f/x boutique Station X. Be-fore that, she was head of the bidding department at Kodak-backed Cine-site, helping land the company work on “X-Men,” “Lost Souls,” “Armageddon,” “Rat Race,” “Windtalkers” and “Thirteen Days.” Joy also spent five years at Boss Film Studios, where she was visual f/x coordinator on pics including “The Specialist,” “Drop Zone,” True Lies” and “Waterworld.” She later served as f/x producer on “Multiplicity” and “Air Force One,” before the facility shuttered.
