Universal’s new-media movie studio Hypnotic.com has inked a deal with Coca-Cola to become the official online partner for the 2001 Coca-Cola Refreshing Filmmaker’s Award, which has tapped UCLA student Peter Hunziker’s film short “You Too Could Be a Winner” as its winner. Hunziker will receive a $10,000 grand prize, and his film will be shown on more than 12,000 screens across the U.S. this spring.
Per the deal, Hypnotic has created a contest microsite on hypnotic.com that features the films and bios of the 10 finalist, who received $5,000 from Coke to produce his or her film short. But a coup for Hypnotic comes in the form of being branded on all of Coca-Cola’s contest materials, including the film’s theatrical screenings. Hunziker will get a studio tour and meetings with Universal execs.
