GlobalStreams, formerly called Play Streaming Media Group, said Monday that it has raised $22 million in funding. Lead investors are Highland Capital Partners, ComVentures and Gateway Associates. The Internet broadcaster owns GlobeCaster, an all-in-one Internet production studio. Ted Briscoe is prexy and CEO of GlobalStreams. Rounding out the management team are Internet analyst Charlie Finnie and former Ask Jeeves veep of marketing David Hellier as exec veeps, senior fellow and director Mike Moore, former CEO and chairman of Play Industries; chief financial officer Tim Hosler, former chief financial officer of Intranet Communications; and chief technology officer David Warthen, former Ask Jeeves co-founder and former chief technology officer. Highland has also invested in Ask Jeeves, Avid Technology, Lycos and MapQuest.
