Online movie ticketing service Fandango has inked a deal with Tellme Networks to make its service available via phone lines. The announcement, made at ShoWest in Las Vegas, pits fledgling Fandango against dominant rival AOL Moviefone.
Fandango will use Tellme’s Internet-powered voice-application network and professional services to build and run its telephone movie ticketing application, skedded to launch sometime before summer. Pittard Sullivan rebranded and relaunched Fandango.com on Monday, and the service now includes 100 new movie theaters in its network. Moviegoers will be able to call 1-800-555-TELL and say “movies” to order tickets for 200 theaters nationwide. Fandango is backed by the Carmike, Century, Cinemark, Edwards, General Cinema, Regal and Loews Cineplex theater chains.
