LONDON — Leading animation players including Aardman, the Cartoon Network and Nelvana are joining forces to form the Animation Committee to discover new talent and support existing Euro animators.
The AC plans a quarterly review of new toon shorts, the best of which will be posted on the Britshorts.com Web site to be reviewed by Netizens and industry players. Select product will then be considered for further development.
“Nelvana is keenly interested in the Web as a test vehicle for animation, encouraging new talent to build an audience before considering traditional media outlets,” said Scott Dyer, chief technical officer of Nelvana. “We are pleased to support this new initiative and look forward to supporting the work of Europe and the U.K.’s best animators and to the success of the Web-based distribution.”
Also contributing to the Committee is the National Film and Television School, the leading training ground for U.K. film and animation talent.
