Disney-owned ESPN.com has acquired alternative sports site SportsJones.com from Chicago-based media venture New City. Financial terms of the cash deal were not disclosed.
ESPN.com said it plans to integrate daily content from SportsJones throughout the ESPN Web site beginning Friday. SportsJones.com will cease to publish independently on that day.
“We are committed to providing fans the most extensive and informative coverage available online, and the content SportsJones.com offers will add even more value to the quality and variety our users have come to expect,” said John Skipper, senior veep and general manager, ESPN.com.
