USA taps Lang VP, comedy

Dahmen upped to director

Studios USA has tapped Lisa Lang VP of comedy programming.

She will develop and supervise production of comedy series for Studios USA, reporting to senior VP of comedy Marcy Ross. As part of a reshuffling within the department, Ross has also upped Paul Dahmen to director of comedy programming.

Most recently, Lang was director of comedy development at Columbia TriStar Television, where she worked with new Studios USA programming topper Sarah Timberman.

“Lisa is highly respected for her integrity and creative intuition by both television executives and talent alike,” Ross said.

At CTTV, Lang helped develop Fox laffer “The Tick” and NBC’s upcoming Hank Azaria sitcom. She had previously been director of television development for the Robert Simonds Co. and spent four years at Carolco Pictures.

Dahmen has been at Studios USA since 1997, starting out as an exec assistant to USA Television Production Group prexy David Kissinger, who at the time was a senior VP of comedy. Since 1999, Dahmen has been manager of comedy programming.

“I had the good fortune to have Paul on my team from day one of my tenure at the studio, and it’s been such a joy to watch him grow into a truly creative and tenacious executive,” Ross said. “His taste in both performers and writers is wonderfully offbeat and smart.”
