USA Cable has tapped former NBC Cable ad sales exec Jon D. Spaet as ad sales prexy.
Spaet, who most recently headed up ad sales for Web portal About.com, replaces Rich Sheingold, who is leaving the company to pursue other interests. Sheingold was hired last year by former USA Networks prexy and chief operating officer Barry Baker, who ankled his post in June.
Spaet will report to Tim Peterman, USA Cable’s chief financial officer.
USA Cable also promoted John Silvestri to general sales manager and executive vice president from exec VP of ad sales. He will report to Spaet.
Prior to About.com, Spaet spent seven years heading up the ad sales division at NBC Cable while CNBC and MSNBC were launched. Previously, Spaet worked in ad sales for the Gotham-based Tribune station WPIX-TV and at the NBC O&Os group.
Since joining USA Cable (then USA Networks) in 1983, Silvestri has held various posts within the company. Previously, he worked at Hearst/ABC Video Services and NBC.
USA Cable consists of USA Network, Sci Fi Channel, Trio and Newsworld Intl.
