The party’s over at Par

Studio will no longer rent out space due to security issues

Paramount has eliminated its special events department, cutting a staff of five.

Move came after the studio decided to stop renting out space on its lot for outside events.

As the studios continue to clamp down on security, Paramount opted to no longer allow non-Par companies to throw parties, weddings, premieres and other events on its lot. With no more third-party affairs, the special events staff was no longer needed.

A Paramount spokeswoman said the edict would be enacted “for the time being,” subject to continued security issues. Par blamed “these difficult times” for the layoffs, although the studio has managed to place some of those employees elsewhere in the company.
