SAG’s election battles have intensified with the launch of two similarly named but diametrically opposed Web sites.
The sites — unitedscreenactors.com and screenactorsunited.com — agree on little except that SAG ballots will be mailed out Friday and must be returned by Oct. 31 and instead focus on pushing candidates on bitterly opposed slates to rep New York members. Unitedscreenactors supports Melissa Gilbert for president; screenactorsunited endorses Eugene Boggs.
The sites join two Gilbert sites (gilbert4pres.com, restorerespect.com), a Gilbert backer group (workingactorsunite.org), a site for Boggs (eugeneboggs.com), a site for presidential candidate Valerie Harper (actorsmovingforward.org) and a Harper backer group (actor.org) .
In another development, 9th VP candidate Esai Morales has requested that Gilbert remove his name from her campaign literature “to eliminate confusion.” Morales is part of Harper’s slate but has been endorsed by Gilbert, who complied with a similar request last week by board candidate Russell McConnell.
